Zimmermann, digital application development is about transforming existing machine data into tangible added value for users. Guided by its \u201cBeyond Precision\u201d claim, the company develops portal milling machines that combine thermal stability, high dynamics and a machine concept designed for real-world industrial applications. The targeted use of data and artificial intelligence (AI) is bringing these capabilities even closer together. At the heart of this approach is the intelligent evaluation of sensor signals, enabling conclusions to be drawn about machine condition, process stability and maintenance requirements. Users benefit from increased productivity, enhanced component quality and maintenance that can be planned with greater confidence.    <\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s portal milling machines capture a wide range of operating and process data for analysis, monitoring and optimization. Depending on the configuration, up to 50 sensors monitor parameters such as temperature, vibration and load conditions. When these data are combined and evaluated continuously, it becomes possible not only to monitor individual components, but also to track the condition of entire systems over time. In the future, this will make it possible to provide users with easy-to-understand information\u2014for example, via traffic-light indicators\u2014or forecasts of the remaining service life of individual components. Particular attention is being paid to critical assemblies such as the milling spindle, where early wear detection can help maintenance teams plan ahead and avoid unplanned downtime.    <\/p>\n<p>Because many Zimmermann machines are deployed in sensitive sectors such as aerospace and defense technology, data processing is deliberately carried out locally at the machine, without a cloud connection. The machine manufacturer is also exploring the use of artificial intelligence, for example to analyze error messages, support programming and build AI-assisted knowledge databases for service applications. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Machines, Milling Heads and Virtual Insights<\/strong><br \/>Alongside its digital technologies, F. Zimmermann will present practical solutions for precision machining at AMB, including the compact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f-zimmermann.com\/en\/fzu22\/\">FZU22 portal milling machine<\/a>. The machine enables manufacturers to machine aluminum, composites and plastics efficiently. It will be complemented by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f-zimmermann.com\/en\/vh60\/\">VH60 2-axis milling head<\/a>, which delivers high thermal stability and excellent damping even in heavy-duty machining. Live demonstrations will showcase typical machine sequences such as tool changes, axis movements and component handling.
