The 32-42 series are equipped with a thermosymmetrical gantry and offer high precision even in their standard configuration, which typically meets our customers’ requirements.The thermosymmetrical box-in-box design minimizes thermal influences that could negatively affect the machine’s geometry. For structural and drive components, the highest priority is placed on accuracy, and the assemblies are arranged to minimize thermal expansion. This ensures process stability, even with fluctuating temperatures or process heat, and guarantees a high degree of precision. Especially during long machining times or when working with large workpieces, this design is a key factor in achieving consistent milling results and perfect surfaces..

What levels of accuracy can be achieved on the portal milling machines?

All Zimmermann machines feature very high dimensional accuracy:
• Positional and volumetric accuracies in the low micrometer range. Machines in the 32-42 series achieve a positioning accuracy of up to ≤8 µm and a volumetric accuracy of up to ≤50 µm as standard
• Thermal stability values that ensure precise results even during longer processes. The accuracy values can be configured to standard or increased accuracy depending on customer requirements.
• The 22/27 series are manufactured as standard in accordance with recognized international accuracy standards, including VDI/DGQ 3441 and ISO 230-2. These standards define test procedures for the positioning and repeatability accuracy of tooling machines.
